If the Shady grove has been closed down under an Anti-Social Behaviour Order, how an earth our the Council and Police powerless to do anything about this.

Friends of mine who run a pub in the local area have been clamped down like a ton of bricks for staying up a few minutes passed the licencing hours.

Just seems crazy to me

@ Ashley Road Resident: Yes, I believe you are right and thank you very much for posting this update. We have also had other similar reports recently. See the last couple of comments under the Petition section for the Shady Grove. When will Ajax ever stop? He really is an absolute menace to our community.

He was even seen urinating against the new wall in Drummond Road opposite Super Mashriq supermarket at 11:00 in the morning with his own lavatory just a few yards away around the corner. How anti-social can you get? Disgusting behaviour. Children are on holiday.

I'm pretty sure it's open again, there's been a lot of people outside late at night/early in the morning. My bedroom window looks over it. It needs to get shut down. It has such a negative impact on the area, things have been better since its closure.

At long last there are signs recently of this scheme progressing. BCC have posted a Statutory Notice of intended works dated 25th July. The Notice I saw is on a lamp post at the City Road end of Drummond Road.

Councillor Jon Rogers has offered to find out what is happening as matters have been dragging on for some time.

I've just had a quick look for myself and, though I can hear some music playing in the front of the shop (Ashley Road entrance), I could not see any signs of life through the window. I also checked the alleyway as it was unlocked and no one was there.

My understanding has been that the property is now being used as a bed and breakfast. However, this is not the first time recently that I have heard similar accounts of it being used as a club again.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for us to maintain a log of activity on this site so I'll set one up for that purpose. Multiple eyes and ears will soon build up a reliable picture.

Thank you for this information. Any further updates would also be appreciated. We cannot allow the Shady Grove to ruin our community's quality of life here again. Rest assured that the Police will be asked to act.

I hope my contributions timing is not wrong, I just thought I should shed some light on the recent developments on the above shady grove. It appears to be coming back slowly as it is now opened early hours of the morning through to the next day. As from before the people there will be drunk and have no disregard for people sleeping in the houses close by. the crowds a slowly increasing I have noticed and so is the activity.Drug dealers like wise are rising to the occasion I saw one sell drugs to a lady with that alley.the recent reopening of that gate behind top shop has contributed to this. from time to time I see the owner of this establishment out early in the morning opening up the gate and leaving it ajar for his regulars to come in.I think we are heading for trouble, i dont know. Im really concerned.something needs to be done.

I have owned a house in Gwyn St for ten years now and I agree with the above comments completely.
I am hoping that opening up the road will help. It is beyond me why the Police cannot do something about the dealing on these streets. I believe they have a containment policy that is not justified. I believe these streets deserve support from BCC.
